Happy New Year Oakville!
As we close out the 2025 year and look ahead to the New Year, I want to thank the Oakville East community for your trust and support.
When I returned to Ottawa as your Member of Parliament for Oakville East, I committed to deliver progress for our community with a focus on three priorities:
First, strengthening community safety and combatting crime. The safety of Oakville East is non-negotiable. Here at home, I convened a community safety roundtable in partnership with local elected representatives and law enforcement. At the national level, our government has taken decisive action to strengthen borders, limit bail for repeat and violent offenders, combat organized crime and fentanyl trafficking, and disrupt illicit financing. These reforms help keep our communities safe.
Second, protecting and building the Canadian economy. Through our Buy Canadian policy and the One Canadian Economy Act, our new government is removing barriers to interprovincial trade and labour mobility, reducing red tape, and prioritizing Canadian workers, suppliers, and Canadian made goods. These measures support local businesses and strengthen Canada’s long term economic resilience.
Third, affordability remains top of mind. That is why our government implemented a middle-class tax cut, expanded and made permanent the National School Food Program, and eliminated the GST on new homes for first time home buyers. Our government has cut taxes, lowered costs and put more money back into the pockets of Canadians.
I look forward to continuing this important work together in the year ahead. My very best wishes to you all for a happy and healthy New Year.
