Building Canada Strong includes being our own best customer. Our new Buy Canadian policy, effective now, prioritizes Canadian workers and industries, creating demand nationwide and rewarding those who invest, innovate, and produce here at home. With the Buy Canadian policy, federal procurement will give priority to companies with a genuine presence in Canada. This approach will be immediately applied to large federal projects and will expand to additional procurements in the coming months.

The policy also requires the use of Canadian-produced steel, aluminum, and wood products in large federal construction and defence projects, where a Canadian source of supply is available. This ensures that public investments directly support Canadian producers and workers, while helping build the infrastructure on which our communities rely.
By being our own best customer, we are ensuring that federal investments translate into real economic benefits for communities like Oakville East, supporting local businesses and workers while strengthening Canada’s long-term economic resilience.

The Canada Strong Pass is back for the holiday season, and members of our community can enjoy exploring and visiting some of Canada’s most iconic destinations. From December 12, 2025, to January 15, 2026, the Canada Strong Pass provides free or discounted access to museums, natural attractions, and VIA Rail travel for children and young Canadians, making it more affordable for Oakville East families and young people to explore and celebrate Canada during the holiday season.

As you and your family celebrate the holidays, supporting our many, wonderful local restaurants, shops, and services contributes to our community’s economic prosperity and diversity.

My very best wishes for a happy, healthy, and peaceful holiday season.

Oakville Firefighter Toy Drive
Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Oakville Firefighters’ Toy Drive. There’s truly no better way to embrace the holiday spirit than coming together to support families in our community here in Oakville. I’m so grateful to everyone who helped spread joy and make a difference for local families this season.

A Weekend in Oakville
Enjoying the festive décor and stopping by some local small businesses in downtown Oakville.

NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs Meeting
NATO Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting wrapped up during the first week of December. In my bilateral meetings and our working sessions, I reaffirmed Canada’s unwavering support to our Allies and our shared efforts to reinforce global security. I also took the opportunity to announce $235 million in support of Ukraine through NATO’s CAP and PURL programs. Together, we are strengthening multilateralism and shaping a safer future for all.
