Canada is facing a crucial moment in our nation's history.

Over the past seven weeks, I have been heavily engaged on the Canada-U.S. file and have made headway on reducing interprovincial barriers to trade. I have already made significant progress in streamlining the Canada Free Trade Agreement by eliminating over 50 per cent of current barriers to interprovincial trade.

Yesterday, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that they have imposed 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods and services across the board despite our government's actions to strengthen our border and halt the flow of fentanyl into Canada.

While I am disappointed in President Trump's decision to impose these wholly unjustified tariffs, our government's response is strong. We are implementing retaliatory tariffs on $155 billion worth of American goods.

With all this in mind, I am pleased to announce that I will run for re-election as your Member of Parliament in the next federal election. These times are too critical and too significant to our country's future for me to step away now. I look forward to earning the opportunity to continue to serve the people of Oakville -- a community that I love.

Onwards and upwards! Let's do this. Let's take charge of the successful, prosperous, inclusive future of our beautiful country.

Introducing Alto: Canada's High Speed Rail
As Minister of Transport, I recently announced the biggest infrastructure project in our nation’s history, high speed rail! Reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h, it will cut travel times in half and connect key cities in the Toronto-Quebec City corridor.

This historic project will create over 51,000 Canadian jobs, improve productivity, and boost our GDP by up to $35B annually.

Investing Locally with Gastronomous Technologies
Yesterday, our government invested over $2.7 million to launch the Unpuzzle Mentorship Program for foodtech entrepreneurs, as well as the FoodTech NOW Funding Program!

These investments will help local businesses like Gastronomous to support the growth of the agri-food sector and build a stronger, more sustainable future for Canadians.
