Last week, I was honoured to be sworn in as the new Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry under the leadership of Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The Innovation, Science and Industry portfolio is a top priority for our federal government as we work to strengthen our national economy and stimulate innovation and industrial production across Canada. In one of my first decisions as Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, I asked all businesses who are recipients of Government of Canada funding to buy Canadian products, including steel and aluminum, in executing their projects.

In response to the unfair and unjustified steel and aluminum tariffs imposed by the United States, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is prioritizing funding of projects that use predominantly Canadian steel and aluminum.

During my time as Minister of Transport and Internal Trade, I was encouraged by the progress we were able to make alongside the provinces to remove barriers to internal trade and strengthen the Canada Free Trade Agreement.

The economic prosperity of our wonderful Oakville community is always a priority for me. I am excited to continue my work in strengthening Canada's economy and driving Canadian innovation within my new portfolio.

Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry
As Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, my priority is to support building the Canadian economy of the future to fuel greater Canadian economic growth.

This is a Government focused on action. I look forward to working with Prime Minister Mark Carney and all my colleagues, so we can deliver results faster for all Canadians.

Combatting Auto Theft in our Community
Through our government's National Action Plan to Combat Auto Theft, we have worked alongside law enforcement agencies, other levels of government and industry leaders to curb auto theft within our communities.

As a result of these joint efforts, we have seen a near 20 per cent reduction in auto theft across Canada in 2024. We will continue working with partners to keep our communities safe.

International Women's Day 2025
Thank you to the Women of Halton Action Movement (WHAM) for hosting this year's annual International Women's Day dinner

It was fantastic to see so many incredible and inspiring women who have contributed to our Oakville community and helped make it even greater.
