Canada’s 45th Parliament was opened with a historic throne speech delivered by His Majesty King Charles III. Our new government is delivering change and building Canada Strong by introducing a middle-class tax cut, toughening the Criminal Code to keep repeat offenders off our streets, doubling the pace of home-building, and strengthening our military and economy.

I know the importance of strengthening community safety, addressing affordability, and building a prosperous Canadian economy to our community here in Oakville. These are my priorities as I return to the House of Commons, and I am focused on results for Oakville East.

Our government is prioritizing community safety by toughening the Criminal Code to make bail harder for repeat offenders of auto theft and home invasions. Here at home, I have established a roundtable to address crime at the local level in partnership with Oakville's elected representatives from all levels of government and law enforcement.

We are focused on improving affordability. Our government is delivering a middle-class tax cut that will put more money back in the pockets of 22 million Canadians. Our recent expansion of the Canadian Dental Care Program to all Canadians without access to dental insurance and continued protection of the Canada Child Benefit will help make life more affordable for Canadian families. And by doubling the pace of home-building to 500,000 new homes each year, we will ensure Canadians have wider access to more affordable housing.

Our government is bolstering and protecting our economy. We are introducing legislature to remove all internal trade barriers that have held back our economy, and we are transforming thirteen economies into one robust, Canadian economy.  At the same time, we are growing and strengthening trade and security relationships abroad with like-minded partners.

In these challenging times, our new government is ambitious and ready to build. Through our strong actions to protect our communities, bolster our economy, and improve affordability for Canadians, we are building a stronger, safer, more affordable and united Canada.

I look forward to being Oakville East’s voice in Ottawa and delivering results for our community.
